The Fenestration Industry Comes Together to Tackle Land’s End to John O’Groats Ride in Support of Cancer Research UK & Andy’s Man Club – Handlebar Heroes.
Four Riders, Two Charities and One Epic Challenge. A United Industry.
The Fenestration industry is gearing up for an unforgettable challenge as four determined cyclists prepare to conquer the iconic Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJOG) route. Covering a staggering 966 miles in just eight days—from 17th May to 24th May 2025—the Handlebar Heroes will push their physical and mental limits, all in the name of two incredible causes: Cancer Research UK and Andy’s Man Club.
Meet the Riders
The industry’s trade heroes:
- Leigh Greenwood & Chris Wann
- Ashley Parkinson
- Gareth Turner
Armed with nothing but their bikes, a whole lot of grit, and a shared mission to make a difference, these four champions will ride the length of Britain – from the rugged cliffs of Cornwall to the breathtaking landscapes of Scotland, the hope is to raise more than £30,000 for charity.
The Cause: More Than Just a Ride
This isn’t just about sore legs and long days in the saddle—it’s about making a real impact.
- Cancer Research UK – Funding life-saving research to beat cancer for good.
- Andy’s Man Club – A vital mental health charity breaking the stigma surrounding men’s mental well-being.
The challenge will raise awareness and much-needed funds to support those battling cancer and those struggling with mental health, ensuring no one must face their fight alone.
Industry Powering the Pedals
The Fenestration Industry is rallying behind the Handlebar Heroes, with the FIT Show (29 April – 1 May 2025) serving as a launchpad to drive sponsorships, awareness, and fundraising.
At the show, attendees can visit dedicated Handlebar Heroes pods, positioned on the MFT, Stand at FIT Show25, meet the cyclists, and take part in exciting fundraising activities.
The event is calling on businesses across the trade to sponsor, donate, and spread the word—because every mile pedalled is a step closer to making a difference.

Handlebar Heroes – Personal Rider Statements
Leigh Greenwood.

“Like most people, I have felt the devastating effects that cancer brings to a family. Several years ago, my Grandad who was the head of the family and like a father to me, lost his battle with cancer. He had beat it once and been in remission. This filled us all with hope and we almost forgot he had ever had it. Then came the devasting news that it had returned, and this time to take his life. Watching someone who meant so much to me transform from a larger-than-life character to a mere shadow of the fun-loving figure that had always been a huge part of my life still hurts today. More needs to be done. More screening to detect the early signs of this disease. More to find treatments and cures for all types of cancer. I’m doing this ride to help raise money for CRUK, hoping that one day we will beat cancer.”
Chris Wann.
Since her all clear she has amazed me with her positive attitude to her experience and as a seasoned ultra runner she completed the hard moors 110 mile ultra only a year after her diagnosis raising around £1000 for Breast Cancer Now. This has inspired me to fundraise for Macmillan and Cancer Research in previous years and now I’m happy to step up again with a great bunch of guys to do our bit for cancer research and men’s mental health, a cause that has supported some good friends of mine through some tough times. Together we can turn small contributions into something that could have a big effect on others wellbeing and their quality of life.”
Gareth Turner.
Although awareness and support around Mental Health is much more spoken of, I and many others have been closely affected by Mental Health and Suicide having recently lost my Twin Brother Graeme in October last year and 3 years ago my lifelong friend Ian (Ozzy)
Andy Mans Club started as a local charity in my home town of Halifax and works tirelessly to support and raise awareness of Men’s Mental Health – they now have groups that meet every Monday evening around the country offering a safe space for men to talk openly and without judgement around their mental health understanding that #itsoktotalk When Leigh asked me to take part in this Epic Bike challenge it felt destiny was calling to push ourselves beyond our limits and raise money for these two worthy causes.”
