Made for Trade’s Chris and Leigh Cycle 200+ Miles to the FIT Show Raise Funds for Cancer Research UK – Faster 2 FIT
On Monday, 22nd May, 2023, Made for Trade’s Chris Wann and Leigh Greenwood cycled over 200 miles from Billingham to Birmingham in support of Cancer Research UK. The pair set off at 2:40am in the morning and arrived at the FITSHOW at the NEC just in time for the end of setup day.
Chris and Leigh had been training for months in preparation for the challenge. They cycled a variety of routes, including some long-distance rides, to build up their stamina. They also tracked their progress on social media, which helped to raise awareness of their fundraising efforts.
The two cyclists covered 204 miles in just under 15 hours. They faced a number of challenges along the way, including strong winds and heavy rain. However, they persevered and eventually reached their destination.
On arrival, Chris and Leigh were greeted by a cheering crowd of Made for Trade colleagues, FITSHOW representatives, and industry magazines. They were also presented with a certificate of achievement from Cancer Research UK.
Chris and Leigh were delighted to have completed the challenge and to have since raised over £22,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Made for Trade, Operations Director, Chris Wann said, “The FIT Show has always been about the attendees and people as much as the show itself, which meant their was no better place for us to attempt a Made for Trade fundraising effort. The work done by Cancer Research UK is second to none and is relentless for something that affects so many people. Taking on this challenge was a great way to bring in valuable donations and raise awareness, but nothing compares to the hard work done by the charity in continuing to make progress. Myself and Leigh have been bowled over by the generosity and support by the industry, FIT Show and of course friends and family.”
We are incredibly proud of Chris and Leigh for their incredible achievement. Their fundraising efforts will make a real difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.
The total now raised stands at “22,871.00 – If you would like to donate, go to Chris and Leigh’s fundraising page to support this great cause.
